Cardiac Surgery Ward

The cardiac surgery ward of Valiasr Hospital of Birjand was established in 2007 and, due to construction and development, continued to work semi-actively until October 2011 and then started full-time serving of the patients in the province since October 2011. There are currently 2 cardiac surgery physicians, 1 intervention physician, 2 electrophysiologists and 6 cardiologists in the ward.

In addition, the IPD unit of the hospital is located in this ward. The IPD unit physician is Dr. Amuzeshi (cardiac surgery subspecialist) and the unit office worker is Ms. Khazaee Vafa.

  • Hospitalization Department

    • Personnel: 5 nurses, 1 janitor and 1 secretary

    • Equipment:

      • 4 two-bed and three-bed rooms, with 9 beds in total.

      • Four beds with full central monitoring system

      • Four central suction systems for all rooms as well as portable suction

      • Central oxygen system in all rooms

      • Infusion pump device

      • Defibrillator device

  • Cardiac Surgery ICU

    • Equipment:
      • Four beds with central monitoring

      • Pulmonary lab

      • Four ventilator machines

      • Two defibrillator machines

      • Mobile monitoring device

      • Echocardiography machine

      • Portable radiology machine

      • Blood gas analyzer machine

      • ECG machine

      • Pacemaker

  • Cardiac Operating Room

    • Personnel: 10 persons and 1 janitor

    • Equipment:

      • Cardiopulmonary pump

      • Control and coagulation device

      • Thoracoscope

      • Radiofrequency machine

      • Trans-esophageal echocardiography

      • Defibrillator device

      • Balloon Pump Machine

Common Cardiac Surgeries:  CABG, MVR, AVR, TVR, ASD, VSD, PDA, embolectomy, tetralogy of fallot, aortic dissection and pediatric cardiac surgery
